Weekend Betting Tips – 14th and 15th October 2017

Weekend Betting Tips for Liverpool v Man United, Dewhurst Stakes and Southampton v Newcastle

The international break is over, meaning the Premier League returns this weekend. We come back from the internationals in a big way, as this weekend’s sport kicks off with Liverpool facing Manchester United. We’ve picked out a betting tip for that game, as well as running through the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. Southampton against Newcastle is the only live Premier League game on Sunday, and that rounds off our weekend betting tips.

Liverpool v Man United – Liverpool to Come Flying out of the Blocks

The biggest game of the Premier League weekend kicks off the return from the international break. Not only is this a clash between two great rivals, but it’s Manchester United’s first big test of the season. The Red Devils have had a straightforward task through their early league campaign and Champions League group, but they’re now finally facing a fellow top six side. To make matters worse, Liverpool were unbeaten at home to the top 10 last season, while Jurgen Klopp has won six and drawn five of his 12 meetings at home to top six opposition.

Having looked at the stats, we have found a huge bet for this weekend’s action. Liverpool are a side who tend to start matches well, with over half of their goals so far coming in the first half of matches. They should hit the ground running in a big game, especially against a United side who are largely untested against elite opposition this term. However, United have scored 76% of their goals in the second half, and 47% in the final 15 minutes. That has us backing them to equalise in the second, so we’re going for Liverpool/Draw on the half-time/full-time market.

Betting Tip: Liverpool/Draw at 17/1 with BetVictor

Dewhurst Stakes – Expert Eye set for Challenge

The highlight of this weekend’s racing comes at Newmarket, with the Dewhurst Stakes starting off at 3pm. Expert Eye leads the way heading in to this one, priced up as the 4/7 favourite. That shows quite a bit of confidence from the bookmakers. Emaraaty has been priced up as the 4/1 second favourite with Coral, but could that bet offer us some value this weekend?

Emaraaty has been fast tracked in to this race after a promising start. He has very clear potential, as shown by his perormance at Sandown in his first ever race. That was followed up by a win at Newbury last month, which should put Emaraaty on course to make an impression here. If anyone is going to stop Expert Eye, then it’s the John Gosden trained horse, who is our main tip here.

Betting Tip: Emaraaty to win at 4/1 with Coral

Southampton v Newcastle – Expect Another Benitez Smash and Grab

Newcastle may not have added the necessary talent in the summer, but they do have an experienced boss who knows this division. Rafa Benitez could ultimately make the difference between relegation and survival for the Magpies this season. The Spaniard is far from the most expansive coach in the world, but his organisation means that his side will be set up to frustrate opposition. They have no better chance of doing that than at Southampton this weekend.

The hosts have failed to score in nine of their last 10 at home, so they look perfectly set up for Benitez and his team to do a job defensively. This game has shadows of Newcastle’s win at Swansea earlier in the season, where they kept things tight and won thanks to a set piece goal. That result could well be repeated here, and we’ve picked out an away win and under 2.5 match goals as the best value tip.

Betting Tip: Newcastle and Under 2.5 Goals at 15/2 with Betfair
