Weekend Betting Tips for the Ashes 2nd Test, Wales v South Africa and Arsenal v Man United
Saturday is a huge day for sporting action, kicking off a packed weekend. Hot on the heels of Friday’s World Cup draw, the Ashes is back underway in the early hours of Saturday. Luckily your lie-in after the opening day of the second test shouldn’t interfere with the rest of Saturday’s action, which sees South Africa face Wales in rugby union and Arsenal host Man United in the Premier League. Ahead of those three major events, we’ve picked out a betting tip for each.
Australia v England 2nd Test – England in a Spin
England meekly surrendered towards the end of the first test at the Gabba, and their trip to Adelaide could also go down quite badly. Not only was their performance in the opening test poor, but some injury blows have left the visitors with selection issues. When you consider that their bottom order was a shambles, it’s worth expecting their latter batsmen to drop like flies once again in the second test. We think there’s value to be found on backing a big performance from Nathan Lyon here, who could lay down a marker with an impressive haul in the second test. He got off to a strong start in Brisbane, and he’s emerging as a huge threat to England. Despite that, the bookmakers have priced him up quite well to be a thorn in their side this weekend.
Betting Tip: Nathan Lyon to Australian Bowler at 4/1 with Betfair
Wales v South Africa – Wales to Battle Hard
The Autumn Internationals are carrying on in to Winter, but they wrap up this weekend with South Africa visiting Cardiff. The Welsh are looking to bounce back after a defeat to New Zealand, and there will be plenty of hope that they can get a victory to wrap up 2017. The Welsh were impressive before losing to the world champions, while South Africa have had their problems in these recent tests. Wales have won the last two meetings between these sides in Cardiff, and we’re backing them to pick up a victory with a -6 handicap, which looks like a great price.
Betting Tip: Wales -6 Handicap at 11/4 with Coral
Arsenal v Man United – United Gunned Down
The highlight of the Premier League weekend sees Manchester United head to the Emirates, and United are aiming to end their awful run away to the top six. Boss Jose Mourinho has seen his men score once in their last 10 away to the league’s top sides, and we’re backing that record to continue against an Arsenal side who have won their last 11 home matches in the league. With that form behind them, the Gunners can claim all three points against Mourinho and United, having started a winning run of their own which has lifted them back in to the top four. We’re backing a 2-0 win for Arsenal in Saturday evening’s clash.
Betting Tip: Arsenal to win 2-0 at 12/1 with Coral
